Additional information

Unknown comedian, Yong-ki, and his wife, Jung-yun, have been married for
about three years. Their marriage has had its ups and downs with a failed
pregnancy and financial hardships but Yong-ki is positive that things will be
better. Yong-ki's dream is to debut on the "King of Comedy," currently the
most popular program. One day, two brother con artists, Hak-soo and Hak-
chul, approach Yong-ki and promise to make him a "star" for 10,000 dollars
but Yong-ki turns them down. The two brothers then approach Jung-yun and
try to cheat her out of money, however Jung-yun refuses to fall for their
scheme. When they realize that they have been figured out, the brothers
accidentally push Jung-yun to the floor in their rush to leave her store. The
two panic but have enough of a conscience to carry her to the hospital. They
find out that Jung-yun is terminally ill. Meanwhile, Yong-ki takes out the
down payment on their apartment and goes out to find the two brothers. In an
uncharacteristic gesture, the brothers refuse his money and reveal Jung-
yun's secret to her husband. Yong-ki has no choice but to pretend ignorance
in front of Jung-yun. In an effort to give her the best present of her life, he
begins looking for her highschool friends. Jung-yun also privately begins to
prepare something for her husband, who will be left all alone. She goes to
see the producer of "King of Comedy," Mr. Hwang and even helps his wife
with the housework to gain favor from them. The producer's wife finds out
about her illness and is touched by Jung-yun's sacrifice. Yong-ki finally gets
his big break on "King of Comedy." Yong-ki, with the help of the producer,
gets a chance for a one-man act closing out the "King of Comedy." While
Yong-ki throws out one joke after another, Jung-yun gradually loses her grip
on life.
